Ashley Cox has been appointed by the Florida Supreme Court to the Criminal Law Jury Instruction Committee. She has a diverse legal background, having served as an Assistant State Attorney and currently working as a Criminal Defense Attorney.

Ashley Cox is a member of the U.S. Federal District Court for the Middle and Northern Districts of Florida and is an attorney with the Bedell Firm, Florida's oldest law firm, established in 1865.
Her legal journey includes serving as an Assistant State Attorney in Jacksonville, where she prosecuted both misdemeanor and felony cases. Since 2006, she has been a director at Bedell, Dittmar, DeVault, Pillans & Coxe, focusing on civil, criminal, and family law litigation.
Her recent practice has concentrated on family law, and she is recognized for her representation before The Florida Bar and the Florida Board of Bar Examiners.
Ashley Cox graduated magna cum laude from Duke University in 1997. She then attended Northwestern University School of Law, graduating with honors in 2002.
Between her college and law school years, she joined the Inner-City Teaching Corps and taught for two years on the Southside of Chicago. She also worked as a Skadden Fellow attorney at the Atlanta Legal Aid Society, Inc.
Ashley Cox is actively involved in community service. She volunteers as a Guardian ad Litem, advocating for the best interests of children in abuse or guardianship cases.
Additionally, she contributes weekly at the Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry food pantry. She serves on the parent council at Providence School of Jacksonville and has previously chaired the School Advisory Council at Atlantic Beach Elementary.
Born and raised in Orlando, Ashley Cox was influenced by her parents, both practicing lawyers, and her father, who served as a Justice with the Florida Supreme Court from 1994 until his retirement in 2009. She has lived in Jacksonville for twenty years, is married, and has three children.
Ashley is a member of Beach Church in Jacksonville Beach.
Ashley Cox has received numerous accolades for her legal work. She was awarded the Barry Sinoff Award of Excellence in Family Law and was named one of Jacksonville’s top “Women of Influence” for her inspirational leadership.
