Who is Caroline Waterloo?

Caroline Waterloo is a candidate for the Edinburgh North & Leith constituency in the 2024 United Kingdom general election. Originally from the Caribbean, Waterloo moved to the Netherlands at the age of eight.

During her student years studying dietetics, she worked for a service bureau, where her initial job involved converting paper archives into microfilm. In her twenties, Waterloo decided to travel the world, living and spending time in various countries including China, Japan, Australia, Portugal, and Ireland.

Professional Journey:

In her thirties, Waterloo was recruited by her former employer to manage a significant project: converting WWI soldiers' records to microfilm at The National Archives in Kew, London. Following the successful completion of this project, she shifted her focus to digitization and information management.

She worked as a library assistant in Dublin at the Royal Irish Academy and later at the Law Library of Ireland, while also pursuing further education in converting analog records to digital, eventually earning a master’s degree in information management.

Recent Career and Motivations:

In 2014, Waterloo moved to Edinburgh to take up a position as a digitization programme manager at the National Library of Scotland. Her recent concerns over food security, influenced by government policies, led her to join the political group EDINBURGH PEOPLE and stand as a candidate in the upcoming general election.
