Conor Sheehan was born and raised on the north side of Limerick. He is an alumnus of Gaelcoil Sáirseal and Coláiste Chiaráin in Croom, followed by studies at Mary Immaculate College where he earned a B.A.
in French and German. He also won the French Embassy Prize in French Studies.
Additionally, he holds a B.A. in Journalism from Dublin City University (DCU).
Sheehan entered politics to address the underrepresentation of his generation and to influence decisions impacting them. His commitment to enhancing the livability and infrastructure of Limerick is driven by his love for his city and community.
He aims to transform Limerick into a counterbalance to Dublin by improving public transport, housing, and local amenities.
As a councillor, Conor has prioritized community-enhancing projects like the refurbishment of Clare Street Park and development of new playgrounds in Corbally and Caherdavin. He has actively worked on flood defense measures for Kings Island and Corbally.
In terms of urban revitalization, he supports making full use of King John's Castle, expanding the public bike scheme, and enhancing active travel facilities across the city. Sheehan played a pivotal role in securing funding for community facilities in Corbally and has been a vocal opponent of decisions he sees as detrimental to Limerick’s cultural heritage, such as the seasonal operation of King John's Castle and changes to local RTE and Lyric FM services.
He volunteers at St Munchin's Community Centre and serves as a trustee for the Limerick Milk Market. Additionally, he is involved in several special policy committees of the Limerick City and County Council focusing on home, social development, and transport.
Conor Sheehan represents a proactive, community-focused approach to local government, aiming to make Limerick a better place for its residents through targeted local development and active engagement in civic issues.
