Who is Doug Curran?

Doug Curran has been a resident of Griffith for over 28 years, with 13 of those years dedicated to serving as a Griffith City Councillor. His commitment to the community is evident through his extensive involvement in local governance, having served on 13 committees and chaired six of them.

Before becoming Mayor, Curran served as Deputy Mayor for five years. He was popularly elected as Mayor of Griffith City Council in 2021.

Committee Work:

Throughout his tenure, Doug Curran has been actively involved in various committees, contributing to multiple aspects of the Council's functions and decision-making processes. Mayor of Griffith:

In September 2022, Doug Curran was charged with mid-range drink driving, having been allegedly caught driving at more than twice the legal limit. His license was suspended ahead of a December court appearance.

Despite this incident, Curran stated that there is no council mechanism that would force him to resign from his position as Mayor.

Curran is dedicated to leading Griffith into the future by driving development and job growth. He aims to work closely with the community, State, and Federal Governments to provide the necessary infrastructure for continued growth and prosperity.
