Judge Erik Leontiev was appointed to the Twentieth Judicial Circuit Court by Governor Ron DeSantis in April 2023. He previously served as a County Court Judge in Lee County since 2021.
His judicial responsibilities have included presiding over civil cases, evictions, small claims, traffic infractions, juvenile dependency and delinquency, truancy court, and domestic relations cases.
Before his judicial appointments, Judge Leontiev spent 14 years as an Assistant State Attorney in the Twentieth Judicial Circuit. He worked in various units, including the Postconviction, Sexually Violent Predators, Special Victims, and Economic Crimes Units, prosecuting felony, misdemeanor, and juvenile cases.
A first-generation American, Judge Leontiev's father served in the U.S. Armed Forces, which led to extensive relocations during his childhood.
He eventually settled in Florida in 1999. Judge Leontiev earned his bachelor's degree from Florida International University and his law degree from the University of Miami School of Law.
He is married with seven children and enjoys reading, fishing, working on cars, and outdoor activities with his family.
Judge Leontiev is endorsed by both State Attorney Amira Fox and Public Defender Kathy Smith. His community involvement includes serving as Chairman of the Lee County Canvassing Board for the 2022 Primary and General Elections.
