Geoff McDonald, currently serving as the Mayor of Toowoomba Regional Council, serving as the Chair of the Finance and Business Strategy Committee, was appointed to the position after Mayor Paul Antonio's resignation. Elected by a margin of nine votes to one, he has been Deputy Mayor since 2020 and pledges to advocate for the community to achieve the best outcomes for residents.

Born and raised in Toowoomba, he is a fifth-generation business owner, managing Cracker Print and Paper with his family, a company with a history since 1901. McDonald's commitment to his trade was highlighted when he was named Queensland Printing and Graphic Arts Apprentice of the Year in 1992.

He has a robust history of community involvement, serving as a patron, ambassador, board member, and life member of various community, business, sporting, and charitable organizations. Recognized for his strong commitment, enthusiasm, and energy, McDonald focuses on enhancing the lifestyle, economy, and global standing of the Toowoomba Region.

He was appointed Deputy Mayor on 23 April 2020 and became Mayor on 21 July 2023.
