Who is Jos Mitchell?

Jos Mitchell is an independent mayoral candidate for Redland City Council, aiming for election on 16 March 2024. A resident of Redlands, Mitchell has raised three children in the area with her husband and is deeply connected to the bayside lifestyle.

Her career spans both the public and private sectors, including significant experience as a nationally accredited mediator specializing in workplace conflict since 2018, with a keen interest in workplace culture and team building. Mitchell's professional background includes serving as a manager of Sustainable Communities within local government, overseeing a wide range of portfolios from Economic Development to Public Art.

During her tenure in New South Wales, she achieved notable successes such as the adoption of a Tourism Plan and the writing of a Youth Policy for the council. Prior to this role, she co-founded a company that provided photographic and design services to a variety of clients, including significant corporations and government entities, emphasizing community support and training opportunities for young people.

Earlier in her career, Mitchell worked with the Queensland Police Service in various capacities, including as a general duties officer and police prosecutor, gaining invaluable experience in community service and training. Motivated by dissatisfaction with the current council's operation and the high rates in Southeast Queensland, Mitchell is running for mayor to advocate for integrity, efficient management, and professional project delivery to address community needs.

Her campaign, initiated in January 2023, focuses on deeply understanding community needs through active engagement, distancing herself from short-term, pre-election appearances. Mitchell emphasizes collaboration with skilled candidates and councillors beyond party politics, aiming for representation that aligns with the community's interests and demographics.

Her platform champions ethical standards, transparency, genuine community engagement, and inclusivity, underpinned by her record of advocacy and support for communal voices. The LEADING CHANGE group, which Mitchell leads, prioritizes value for community rates, proactive planning, support for community and sporting clubs, essential service and infrastructure delivery, and effective collaboration with all government levels for optimal outcomes for Redlands.

Supporters are invited to learn more about the group's candidates, contribute through donations or volunteering, and join the effort for positive change in Redlands. The campaign is authorized by Malcolm Robinson in Brisbane.
