Councillor Nicole Johnston, serving as the Independent Councillor for the Tennyson Ward since March 2008, holds the distinction of being the only Independent elected to the Brisbane City Council in 70 years. With a background in Law and Arts from QUT and the University of Queensland, respectively, and a Masters in Public Policy, Nicole has extensive experience in corporate affairs.

A resident of Sherwood, she is deeply involved with local community, sporting, and environmental groups, and supports local educational institutions. Nicole is a patron of several clubs and groups within her ward.

She serves on the City Standards Committee and the City Planning and Suburban Renewal Committee, and has held various other council roles. Nicole actively communicates with her constituents through monthly newsletters and social media to keep them informed about local events and initiatives.
