Who is Robert Mustow?

Robert Mustow was born in Casino, New South Wales, at the Memorial Hospital. He attended Casino Public School and Casino High School, establishing strong ties to his local community from a young age.

Tradesman Career:

Robert Mustow is a qualified panel beater who successfully operated his own smash repair business for 15 years. His professional background in trade provided him with practical experience and business acumen.

Sports Administration:

Following his career as a panel beater, Mustow worked for Basketball NSW as the North Coast Regional Development Officer before retiring. This role allowed him to engage with the community through sports development and administration.

Personal Interests:

Mustow has a keen interest in various sports, including basketball, and enjoys participating in fun runs and marathons. He also has a passion for traveling.

Council Service:

Robert Mustow was first elected to the Casino Council in 1987. After the amalgamation of Casino Council with the Richmond River Shire Council in 2000, he continued his political career with the newly formed Richmond Valley Council.

He was elected Mayor of Richmond Valley Council in 2016 and re-elected on 21 December 2021.

Under Mustow's leadership, each of the six towns and villages in the Richmond Valley has received new and improved community infrastructure. This initiative aimed to ensure equitable development and enhancement of facilities across the region.

Northern Rivers Livestock Exchange (NRLX) Upgrade:

A major achievement of Mustow's tenure was the $14 million upgrade of the Northern Rivers Livestock Exchange (NRLX). This project, which had been discussed for 25 years, secured Casino's position as the beef capital of the region and supported the local livestock industry.

Rebuilding of Rappville:

Following the devastating bushfires of 2019, Mustow prioritized the rebuilding of Rappville, transforming it into a bigger and better village. This project was crucial for the community's recovery and resilience.

Development Applications (DAs):

Mustow achieved a personal goal of facilitating over 300 development applications (DAs) during his term, reflecting his commitment to fostering growth and development within the community.

Community Engagement:

Demonstrating his dedication to active leadership, Mustow attended more than 1,200 community functions, events, and meetings over four years. His engagement with residents highlights his commitment to addressing their needs and concerns.
