Who is Simon Ronald Anthony?

Simon Anthony was born in 1957 in Hanwell. He spent his childhood in Ealing where he and his parents played a significant role in thwarting a road scheme that threatened the local community.

His activism continued in Nottingham, where he worked against the construction of a fourth Trent crossing. Both of these local campaigns spanned two decades before achieving success.

Career and Contributions:

Simon left school at the age of 17 to become a Post Office Apprentice. His career trajectory then led him to the BBC, where he worked for over a decade as a Broadcast VT engineer.

Following this, he spent thirty years working part-time across various roles including an Acorn computer journalist, a writer of Special Needs software, a web developer, a QA engineer in Cambridge, an IT college lecturer, and a teacher. In addition to his professional pursuits, Simon is also a devoted parent.

Political Involvement:

In 1991, Simon became a life member of the Greens. He ran as a general election candidate for the Greens in 1992 and 2005 in the Rushcliffe constituency of Nottingham.

His political ambitions also led him to contest in the European Parliament elections and local authority elections in both Nottingham and London.

Personal Life and Interests:

Simon is a fervent enthusiast of technology and science, and he has attended many hundreds of BBC Promenade concerts, showcasing his love for music. He met his second wife, who is Iranian, through a dating agency in Australia.

The couple lived in Australia for over four years before moving to Barking, where they currently reside. Together, they have four adult children and two grandchildren.
