Who is Sue Hickey?

Sue's life experiences include overcoming divorce, financial hardship, the threat of homelessness, reliance on government assistance, as well as understanding the impacts of mental illness and family dysfunction. Professionally, Sue has over 30 years of experience as a business owner, with significant contributions to the charity, disability, and aged care sectors, emphasizing good governance.

She is known for her willingness to call out inaction on critical community issues. Her work ethic is guided by values such as accountability, compassion, courage, conviction, commitment, equity, making a difference, innovation, and social justice.

Her notable roles include serving as the Southern Transformation Stakeholder Liaison for UTAS since 2022, an Alderman of the Glenorchy City Council since 2021, a board member and Deputy Chair of the OneCare Board, Speaker of the House of Assembly and Member for the Electorate of Clark from 2018 to 2021, and Lord Mayor of the City of Hobart from 2014 to 2018. Sue holds an MBA, has completed various professional development courses, including celebrant training and dementia understanding, and is a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Australian Marketing Institute.
