Who is Sue Moore?

Cr Sue Moore was born and raised in Singleton. She attended local schools and has been deeply connected to the community throughout her life.

Community Involvement:

Cr Moore has been actively involved in local governance and community initiatives for many years. Before her mayoral career, she served in various roles that contributed to the development and betterment of Singleton.

Initial Council Service:

Cr Sue Moore was first elected to the Singleton Council in 1999. She served as a Council-elected Mayor from 2008 to 2012.

Her dedication to public service and community development has been a constant throughout her career.

Election as Mayor:

In December 2021, Cr Moore was popularly re-elected as Mayor of Singleton with 55.37% of the vote after preferences. This marked her second consecutive term as Mayor.

Her election followed an extended five-year term of the Council, which dealt with the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and unprecedented bushfires.

Community Engagement:

During her campaign, Cr Moore engaged in extensive conversations with ratepayers, addressing their questions and concerns. She is committed to working through feedback from the Singleton Community Strategic Plan to shape the community's future for the next 10 years.

Sustainable Community Initiatives:

In March 2022, Singleton was named NSW’s most Sustainable Community for 2021 by the Keep Australia Beautiful NSW Sustainable Communities – Tidy Towns Awards. The award recognized a wide range of local projects, programs, and initiatives emphasizing sustainability.

Under her leadership, the community has seen significant improvements, including the Singleton Arts and Cultural Centre and a $1 million solar energy project.

Infrastructure Development:

Cr Moore has overseen various infrastructure upgrades, ensuring equitable development across the region. Significant projects include the rebuilding of Rappville after the 2019 bushfires and the $14 million upgrade of the Northern Rivers Livestock Exchange (NRLX).

Advocacy for State Funding:

Cr Moore has been a vocal advocate for the needs of the Singleton community at the state level. She has outlined key funding requests for the NSW Government’s budget, including commitments to a statutory body for regional economic evolution, continuation of the Resources for Regions Program, improved emergency management processes, and support for regional infrastructure.

Her vision includes promoting sustainable economic development, protecting the environment, and ensuring that Singleton’s development-ready lots have access to essential infrastructure. She is dedicated to planning for an industry-diverse future, addressing energy and power generation challenges, and advocating for critical services and infrastructure.
