Moneka Sanford was born in Detroit and moved to Oakland County at the age of 11. For over three decades, she has dedicated herself to this community, working and raising her two children.
Her deep roots and commitment to Oakland County are the foundation of her dedication to its residents.
Before pursuing a legal career, Moneka worked as a Social Worker for the State of Michigan, where she helped individuals facing illness and lacking resources. This experience motivated her to transition into law, driven by a desire to assist others in a new capacity.
Moneka earned her law degree from Wayne State and has since practiced extensively in family law within Oakland County.
Moneka’s background as a former social worker provides her with a unique perspective in her legal practice. She understands the importance of addressing underlying issues such as mental health, addiction, and socio-economic factors that often bring individuals into the court system.
Her 20 years of legal experience have equipped her to advocate for public safety while also focusing on the root causes of legal issues.
